Corsica: 7 Days of Luxury Yachting

Corsica — la “Île de Beauté” — is a rugged mountain isle in the Mediterranean, famed in yachting circles for its wild red-granite cliffs, hidden calanques, and rich maquis shrubland. Its western coast is home to the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site of craggy porphyry cliffs and turquoise waters that shelter rare wildlife and ancient marine habitats. This 7-day Corsican charter invites you to glide through protected marine zones, anchor in secluded bays, and explore charming Genoese towns while feeling the island’s powerful blend of natural beauty and timeless heritage. With Ziyana’s refined service, you will experience the island’s dramatic coastlines, historic towers, and crystalline sea in total elegance and serenity.

Day 1

Ajaccio → Cargèse

14 NM

Begin in Ajaccio, Corsica’s historic capital and birthplace of Napoleon, where pastel-painted façades and fortified citadel walls hint at a storied past. As you sail west to Cargèse, the scent of maquis‑shrubland drifts across the deck. Cargèse is unique in Corsica for its twin churches: one built in the Latin (Catholic) tradition, the other in the Greek‑Byzantine rite, facing each other on a hill overlooking the sea. Spend the afternoon exploring both sacred sites, and later cool off with a swim in the sheltered cove below.

Experience Highlights:

  • Scenic coastal sailing past fragrant maquis
  • Afternoon explore Cargèse’s twin churches (Greek & Latin)
  • Evening onboard dinner with Corsican wine

Day 2

Scandola & Girolata

14 NM

This leg takes you into the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO-listed coastal sanctuary defined by its dramatic porphyry cliffs and red-rock formations. Access is highly regulated — anchoring is restricted in parts of the reserve to protect the fragile ecosystem. Witness spectacular red-rock cliffs, seabirds, and possibly dolphins or ospreys on a slow cruise, then drop anchor at Girolata, a tiny, remote hamlet accessible only by sea or foot.

Experience Highlights:

  • Navigate into Scandola’s red-rock cliffs and sea caves
  • Wildlife watching: sea eagles, ospreys, possibly dolphins
  • Ecological moorings in Girolata Bay
  • Optional hike on the “postman’s trail” to overlook points

Day 3

Calvi

14 NM

From Girolata, sail north along the rugged western coast to Calvi, a charming town dominated by its Genoese citadel. The waters here are calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing morning sail. Once docked, explore Calvi’s old town, dine at seaside cafés, and wander the medieval ramparts, soaking up views of the harbor below.

Experience Highlights:

  • Scenic coastal cruising
  • Dock at Calvi’s pleasant marina
  • Visit the Genoese citadel and seaside cafés
  • Sunset cocktails overlooking the old town

Day 4

L’Île-Rousse

9 NM

A short, leisurely short sail brings you to L’Île‑Rousse, known for its red-rock islet that gives the town its name. Drop anchor and explore the local market, stroll along the waterfront, or enjoy fresh seafood at a harbor-side restaurant.

Experience Highlights:

  • Anchor in L’Île‑Rousse harbor
  • Explore red-rock islet & town center
  • Enjoy local Corsican cuisine

Day 5

Capo Rosso

29 NM

Today’s the longest leg: about 29 NM as you head south toward Capo Rosso, one of Corsica’s most striking headlands. Capo Rosso features a pink granite cliff rising to ~331 m, crowned by a historic Genoese tower (Tour de Turghiu). Anchor nearby and enjoy panoramic views or hike if conditions allow.

Experience Highlights:

  • Long scenic passage
  • Anchor beneath the pink granite cliffs of Capo Rosso
  • Optional hike to Genoese tower

Day 6

Sagone Bay

12 NM

From Capo Rosso, cruise to Sagone Bay, a serene and lesser-known anchorage. Spend the afternoon relaxing on deck, swimming in clear water, or tendering ashore. The bay offers a calm contrast to the dramatic cliffs of Capo Rosso, creating a peaceful final full day.

Experience Highlights:

  • Secluded anchorage in a sheltered bay
  • Swimming, paddleboarding, or beach time
  • Onboard dinner under the Corsican twilight

Day 7

Ajaccio

8 NM

On your final day, sail back to Ajaccio. Use the morning to take a last swim, soak in the coastal scenery, or simply enjoy a slow cruise before returning to port. Once back, disembark in Ajaccio, closing out a full week of Corsican discovery.

Experience Highlights:

  • Morning swim or relaxing deck time
  • Return cruise to Ajaccio
  • Disembark and end your luxury Corsican charter
